FLOORSHIME ZIPPER BOOTS: Reality Jockey

Reality Jockey is the new album from Chicago singer/songwriter William Steffey. The eleven tracks occupy a neverland between indie rock and adult contemporary alternative. With a sound that is both retro and new, the album while good, doesn’t seem to fit well in any accepted corner of the medium.

Those into indie rock will find it too tame stylistically and emotionally and those into adult contemporary alt rock will find it too lacking in the formula sound or classic rock cliches. This is a talented artist who seems to be stuck in a place akin to the early sixties pop singers after the emergence of British rock. Good sound, talented, but no safe harbour.
