the elevator doors would not shut and the car would not ascend. i stepped out and took the stairs. the bus wait time was eleven minutes. i walked to the library instead. it wouldn’t be open for another hour and ten more minutes. i smashed the glass door with a frozen dog i found in the street. i never caught his name…

cute little fucker. i remember back in the day i would see him out at the bars entertaining women with lame coin tricks. his favorite was a game called “where’s george?” where he would take a quarter from the pocket of his vest and throw it as far as he could across the bar. there was no real object to this particular game.

i’m thankful it is so sunny out. the temperature may as well be subzero but as long as that yellow furnace is in the sky, i know everything is going to be okay.
