The Smallest Thing [Single Mix] (4:05)

You can paint anybody insane on a bad day
Blame it on a tight pair of genes
If it makes the guilt go away
But you see

Well, what I really mean is…
Well, what I really need is…
Well, what I really mean is…

You can make any poor man pray his whole life away
Yeah, cook him up a cherry pie in the sky
If it makes his pangs go away
But you see
Well, what I really mean is…
Well, what I really mean is…

The smallest thing to you
Used to be the whole wide world to me
And yeah, it used to bug me
Used to bug me
Used to bug me
But now I just slide around
Slide around
Slide around

You can kill your own brothers
Just say it was god’s will
You could kill your own mother
Just find a verse that’ll soak up the bloodspill
Then take history and change it around
Till it’s dignified… so Disneyfied
‘Cause white men don’t do bad things
Now do they?
No, I’m sure they never would

So what do I say, oh scholarly one
When I’m woken up by Indians
Yes, in my bedroom
So what do I say, oh scholarly one
To my black brother
To my black brother

The smallest thing to you
Yeah, it means the whole wide world to me
And yeah, I guess it bugs me
Yeah, it bugs me
Yeah
That’s why I just slide around
Slide around
Slide around
